BLET National President
INDEPENDENCE, Ohio, November 25 — As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, I am extremely proud of our members who continue to work on the frontlines every day to ensure that our nation’s railroad network keeps rolling. Railroads are the backbone of the American economy and the economy would not be able to function without its hardworking locomotive engineers and trainmen. Our Nation is thankful for your sacrifice.
This has been a year like no other due to the outbreak of COVID-19, and I wish to thank our Brotherhood’s Local Division officers for their dedication in these uncharted waters. They are some of the hardest working individuals in the entire Brotherhood, and they deserve our respect and gratitude. I also wish to thank our Advisory Board members and the officers and staff serving General Committees of Adjustment and State Legislative Boards for their hard work during 2020. Also deserving of recognition and thanks for their dedication is our staff at National Division headquarters in Independence, Ohio, our National Legislative Office in Washington, D.C., and our BLET Auxiliary.
Even in a normal year, Thanksgiving can be a challenging time for BLET members who find themselves in the cab of a locomotive or at an away-from-home terminal instead of at the dinner table with loved ones. Please join me in keeping all hardworking BLET members in our thoughts and prayers for a safe journey back home. Let us also keep in mind all Americans — especially our fellow railroaders — who are experiencing difficult times due to the pandemic.
On behalf of the BLET Advisory Board, I wish you all a safe and Happy Thanksgiving.
