Editorial: North Carolina high-speed rail on fast track to new jobs

CHARLOTTE, N.C. A new agreement between federal and state governments and privately owned Norfolk Southern Railway carries with it five specific benefits. It would produce faster passenger and smoother freight train operations, improve road safety, increase transportation reliability, build new infrastructure here and - perhaps best of all in these difficult times - put 4,800 people to work, most of them in this state.

Let's see: Better rail service, infrastructure, safety, reliability and jobs. What's not to like?
