WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) declared a major disaster for the state of Louisiana on August 30, 2021, opening the way for the use of federal assistance for people affected by Hurricane Ida. Thousands of Louisiana residents have had their homes destroyed and over one million were left without power in the aftermath of the storm.

The Teamsters Disaster Relief Fund is a charitable 501(c)3 developed to assist Teamster members who have suffered a loss from a disaster. Through these programs, the Teamsters provide needed relief and outreach to our members, and we need your help in the aftermath of Hurricane Ida. You can help your fellow members in their time of need by donating the following items:

  • bottled water;
  • non-perishable canned goods, canned milk, can openers;
  • protein bars and protein shakes;
  • blankets (new and in their original packaging);
  • tarps and bungee straps;
  • the following cleaning supplies — five-gallon buckets, mops, brooms, sponges, respirator masks, scrub brushes, all-purpose surface cleaner, nitrile gloves, and contractor bags.

Supplies can be sent to:
Disaster Relief Center
8188 Tom Drive

In addition to supplies, you can assist financially. Your tax-deductible donations WILL make a difference in the lives of a Teamster family. Donation checks may be sent to:
