Deadline is March 2 for 2020 Hoffa scholarship program

INDEPENDENCE, Ohio, January 17 ó As a reminder, applications are due by March 2, 2020, for the James R. Hoffa Memorial Scholarship Fund. The program offers college and vocational scholarships for the sons, daughters and financial dependents of Teamsters. The application process can be time consuming, so BLET members and their eligible dependents are encouraged to get started as soon as possible.

Scholarships range from $1,000 to $10,000 for academic scholarships for high school students planning to attend a four-year college or university. There are also $500 to $2,000 vocational/training program scholarships available for those planning to attend a trade or vocational school or community college. (The children or financial dependents of full-time local union officers or full-time staff of local unions are ineligible.)

In 2019, $1.2 million was awarded in academic scholarships for the children of Teamster members to attend four-year college and universities throughout North America. Additionally, many scholarships were awarded to support the costs of vocational/trade school programs.

Again, the deadline to apply is March 2, 2020. Please visit the scholarship fundís website at http://www.jrhmsf.org in order to find out information on who is eligible to apply and how to apply.
