Activists press NJ Transit for more assurances, access on power plant project

NEWARK, N.J. — Last month, NJ Transit was praised by environmentalists for considering solar and renewable options for the agency’s Transitgrid back-up power plant to provide electricity to key parts of the rail system, if there is a power interruption. At Thursday’s nights NJ Transit board meeting, the honeymoon seemed to be over at times.
