Texas deluge floods roads, derails UP train

PALESTINE, Texas — Heavy rains Saturday put in a hard day's work: They flooded the area, downed trees, cut power, closed roads, and derailed a train. On Sunday at about 1 p.m., a northbound Union Pacific train derailed four locomotives and approximately 13 rail cars, between Palestine and Elkhart, just south of Willow Slough Road. A Union Pacific spokesperson said crew members were uninjured.
