California county ends Bakersfield refinery project

NEW YORK — A California county has vetoed a plan to ship Bakken Shale crude oil from North Dakota to central California by rail for refining, Kallanish Energy reports. The Tuesday vote by the Kern County Board of Supervisors rescinded the county’s 2014 approval for Alon USA Energy Inc. to ship Bakken crude to a now-closed refinery in Bakersfield that would be reopened to process the oil.
