Opinion: High-speed rail a wise investment

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. -- Opponents of California's High-Speed Rail project love to call it the "Train to Nowhere." Unfortunately, this catchy cliché is far from the truth. The California High-Speed Rail Authority is building the nation's first high-speed rail system that will transform California, connect the state's mega regions, contribute to economic development, create thousands of jobs and preserve agriculture and protected lands.
