Train like a plan: It could be the future on the Northeast Corridor

NEWARK, N.J. Imagine hopping on a train in New York and arriving in Boston 84 minutes later, about the same time as a plane trip.
Or getting to Washington, D.C., in 96 minutes without ever having to leave the ground.
Among the most ambitious alternatives being considered by the Federal Railroad Administration is the building of a second "spine" along the Northeast Corridor from Washington, D.C., to Boston that would allow bullet trains traveling up to 220 mph.
