Amtrak conducts security drill from NH to Virginia

(The Associated Press circulated the following on May 27, 2010.)

TRENTON, N.J. Amtrak passengers will see more police at stations and on trains from New Hampshire to Virginia as part of a drill to test counterterrorism and incident response capabilities.

Amtrak says Thursday's drill is not a response to any particular threat.

The company says passengers can expect heightened patrols, increased security on trains, explosive-sniffing dogs and random bag inspections.

The drill was scheduled for the morning and afternoon rush hours.
