H.R. 1140 is under attack! Urgent action required!

CLEVELAND, July 25 -- The Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers has learned that the Chairman of the House Budget Committee, Congressman Jim Nussle (R-IA), has announced he is opposed to H.R. 1140 moving forward due to budgetary issues.

The BLE and all other rail labor lobbyists are doing everything possible to try to get H.R. 1140 to stay on the suspension calendar for a vote on Monday, July 30. However, your immediate help is needed.

Several key members of Congress must be contacted immediately to lobby Chairman Nussle to permit the bill to go forward as scheduled. The following lawmakers are co-sponsors of H.R. 1140. Please contact them immediately and ask them to contact Chairman Nussle to allow H.R. 1140 to move forward as scheduled:
