Get out the vote on H.R. 1140!
CLEVELAND, July 25, 2001 -- H.R. 1140, the Railroad Retirement and Survivors' Improvement Act of 2001, is scheduled for a vote on the floor of the House of Representatives on either Monday, July 30 or Tuesday, July 31. All BLE and GIA members are urged to contact their Representatives today and tell them to vote yes to bring the legislation to the floor and also to vote yes on this much-needed bill.
When BLE and GIA members call their members of Congress, the Representative should be told to vote for H.R. 1140 on the "Suspension Calendar." This vote will allow the bill to brought to a vote by the full House. Members of Congress also should be urged to vote yes for the bill once it gets to the floor.

All BLE and GIA members should mobilize and contact their Representatives
today via phone, fax or e-mail. This bill is necessary to improve the quality
of life for our retirees and surviving spouses.
