Megan C. Mead, a member of BLET Division 197 (San Antonio, Texas), serves the BLET National Division as Director of the Record and Compliance Department. She began working full time for the National Division on July 1, 2013, when National President Dennis R. Pierce appointed her to the position of Special Representative and BLET Short Term Disability Liaison. Effective July 7, 2015, she was appointed to a new position as Director of the Compliance Department. And on November 1, 2019, President Pierce announced the merger of the BLET's Compliance Department and Record Department, appointing Sister Mead as Director of the newly combined Record and Compliance Department.

In terms of Compliance, she is responsible for coordinating tax related activities between the BLET, its subordinate bodies and the various government agencies. In terms of Records, her duties include Division and GCA Secretary-Treasurer UnionTrack reporting and general assistance; member, officer, Division, Local Committee of Adjustment and General Committee of Adjustment changes and data maintenance; Division UnionTrack reporting corrections; election results maintenance; and member and officer training at various Secretary-Treasurer classes and workshops. She is supervised by the National Secretary-Treasurer and also handles additional duties as assigned by the National President.

Sister Mead started her railroad career as a brakeman with the Union Pacific Railroad in 1990. She earned promotion to locomotive engineer in July of 1993 and became a member of BLET Division 307 on November 1, 1994.

Sister Mead was first elected as Alternate Secretary-Treasurer of her Division in 1995, and then Secretary-Treasurer in 2001. She later became Secretary-Treasurer of Division 197 through the merger of her Division 307 into Division 197, forming the largest Division on the Union Pacific-Southern Region General Committee of Adjustment (UP-SR GCA), serving from 2004 to 2013. She was elected to the office of Alternate Secretary-Treasurer of the UP-SR GCA in 2008. In 2010, she was elevated to Secretary-Treasurer and was re-elected by acclamation in 2012. Also in 2012, she was elected as her Division's Delegate to the National Division Convention.

Sister Mead served on the Arrangements Committee for the 2006, 2010 and 2014 National Conventions, and served as Chair of the Arrangements Committee at the 2018 Convention. In 2013, she had the honor of serving as a member of the Arrangements Committee for the BLET 150th Anniversary Celebration in Detroit.

Sister Mead is originally from Los Angeles, Calif. She relocated to San Antonio after serving four years in the U.S. Army as a Preventive Medicine Specialist.
