The main organizers for this rally were Jeff Vogt, Sec.-Treas. of
Div. 98 and Randy Meek, Chairman of the Nebraska State
Legislative Board.
Featured speakers at the rally were Brother Meek; Roy Helm, Local
Chairman of Division 98; Ken Mass, President of the Nebraska
State AFL-CIO; and Bill Walpert, General Secretary-Treasurer and
Director of the BLE's Education & Training Department.
More than 100 BLE members participated in the rally, representing
various BLE divisions, including Division 98 (Lincoln and Omaha,
Neb.), Division 621 (Wymore), Division 623 (McCook, Neb.),
Divison 642 (Creston, Iowa), and Division 107 (St. Joseph, Mo.).
Individual members of the United Transportation Union also
attended the rally and march.
The rally received a wide range of media coverage from five
different television stations in the Lincoln/Omaha area, as well
as two different newspapers.
