Rallies
| Kennewick, Wash. |
July 23, 2002 |
Members of the BLE, GIA and
Teamsters participated in this rally, which coincided with the
BLE’s International Western Convention (IWC). BLE General
Chairmen Tim Donnigan (UP) and Dennis Pierce (BNSF) were
interviewed by a local radio station to talk about the hazards of
replacing engineers with lesser qualified employees. In addition,
the BLE sponsored radio spots that warned the public about the
dangers of unmanned, remote control locomotives. More than 200
people participated in this event, and the Seattle-area Teamsters
provided an 18-wheeler to serve as a backdrop for the speakers.
Multiple BLE General Committees of Adjustment came together to
organize and participate in this rally.
