
June 10 informational protest in Houston attracts more than 150
employees, family members, friends and community activists
Members of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers in Houston were
joined by more than 150 supports in a remote control informational
protest in Houston on June 10.
Among the participants were Texas Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee's
representative, Houston City Council Member Ada Edwards, Chief of Staff,
family members, friends and numerous Labor Unions.
Some of the Labor Unions in attendance were: Harris County AFL-CIO
officers and staff, Communication Workers of America, PACE, HPPOU,
Houston Fire Fighters and Carpenters.
"All gathered to pass out literature and stand united to warn the
public," said Herb Yambra, Second Vice-Chairman of the Texas State
Legislative Board, who helped organize the rally.
Numerous television channels, radio station KPFT, and the Houston
Chronicle covered the event. Texas State Legislative Board Chairman
Terry Briggs and First Vice-Chairman Catarino "Cat" Garcia were there
and spoke to the news media.
First Vice-Chairman David Phillips, Third Vice-Chairman Warren Dent, and
Fourth Vice Chairman Russell Elley represented the BLE's UP Southern
Region General Committee of Adjustment.
"This huge success was due to the hard work of the following brothers
and sisters: Kathy Yambra, Greg Bailey, Kathie Bailey, Jim 'Duck' Howard
III, D.C. Battle, John Berthelson & Mike Dugger," Brother Yambra said.
