A remote control locomotive was involved in a collision at Norfolk Southern's Norris Yard in Birmingham, Ala., on Saturday, August 9. Two cars rolled out of the class yard and into a remote control locomotive that was pulling down the lead. No one was injured but a crane service company had to be called to pick up the cars. It is likely that if an engineer was on board, then he would have seen the cars rolling out of the class yard and could have taken steps to avoid the collision.
