Accidents

North Platte, Neb. (UP) August 18, 2003
Two remote control locomotives slammed into the side of a standing box car and derailed. About 4,000 gallons of diesel fuel leaked from one of the locomotives after it fell on its side in Bailey Yards. The other engine apparently did not spill any fuel. A Union Pacific spokesman said a misaligned switch caused the accident. Bailey Yard is the nation's largest rail yard.
