Approximately 400 gallons of a liquid fuel product spilled
when three railroad cars derailed in Cumberland, Md., near the CSX car
shop near Offutt Street. The spilled fuel was identified as petroleum
Naphtha, which leaked from a tank car containing 25,000 gallons of the
highly-flammable fuel. Cumberland Fire Department and the Allegany
County Hazardous Incident Response Team were called in to control the
leak.
