Wisconsin bomb squad removes explosives found in railroad collection

EAU CLAIRE, Wisc. — Pat Thoney told his sons to hurry when he picked them up from football practice Thursday: A bomb squad was coming to their home on the north side of Eau Claire. Two weeks ago Thoney bought an entire estate of Soo Line collectibles. But when he opened one coffee can, he made an explosive discovery: about 50 railroad torpedoes.
