Sen. Tom Harkin won't seek reelection in 2014

DES MOINES, Iowa — Tom Harkin, Iowa’s powerful Democratic U.S. senator, won’t seek re-election in two years, he told The Des Moines Register this morning. His retirement is expected to leave a huge void for Iowa - he will have been in Congress for four decades by the end of this term — but clears the way for Democrats trying determine their lineup for 2014.
