NJ Transit settles discrimination suit with police

NEWARK, N.J. — New Jersey Transit has agreed to pay 10 police officers $5.8 million to settle a discrimination lawsuit. The officers, all minorities, complained that their former chief addressed them with racial slurs and refused to shake hands with one during a promotion ceremony.
