Evacuation ends in Indiana after NS derailment

FORT WAYNE, Ind. ‚ Norfolk Southern has ended the evacuation of the area surrounding Tuesday’s train derailment near Ligonier, according to Michael Newton, director of the Noble County Emergency Management Agency.

A freight train with cars containing hazardous chemicals went off the tracks early Tuesday near County Road 110 West and caught fire, forcing the evacuation of at least six homes and delaying Amtrak passengers for hours, authorities said.
