House, Senate pass 90-day extension of surface transportation bill

On March 29, the House, followed by the Senate, passed a 90-day extension of current surface transportation programs, which were set to expire on March 31. The measure now is on its way to President Obama for his signature.
The House approved H.R. 4281 — which extends SAFETEA-LU for the ninth time since September 2009 —by a vote of 2665 to 158, according to a report from Progressive Railroading.
