Chuck was born in Los Angeles, CA in 1951. He graduated from Lakewood High School in 1969 and earned his bachelor's degree from UCLA in 1973. He has been married to his wife, Jo Anne, since 1973; and they have three grown sons.

Chuck has been a locomotive engineer since 1978, and an active member of Division 362 - La Grande, OR, on the Union Pacific, since 1979, where he worked in through freight service in mountain territory. He came on staff at the National Division in 1988. Chuck's duties at the National Division are President's correspondence, BLET Bylaws, convention planning and operations, and other duties as assigned.

Chuck's interests are backpacking and camping, reading, horticulture, computers, XC skiing, and apiculture.
